DAAN

Annelieke has been working as a legal secretary at DAAN since July 2024. She is co-responsible for the secretarial support of the lawyers, whereby she strives to provide as much structure to work activities as possible so that her colleagues can focus on their core tasks. She has worked as a support assistant at various companies for many years, and has experience in the legal profession she gained at Nysingh Advocaten & Notarissen where she worked as a secretary from 2019 to 2023.

Arjan studied law at the University of Groningen. In 2002, he started to work as a lawyer at Dirkzwager in Arnhem. In 2011, he was a co-founder of DAAN. Arjan has always worked as a specialist in the field of employment law and has gained broad experience in that respect, from commerce to healthcare, education and government, and from dismissal to employee participation. With this knowledge and helicopter view, Arjan is always able to provide his clients with practical and solution-oriented advice.

Barbara started her career as a lawyer at a small law firm in Winterswijk and continued at Poelmann van den Broek in Nijmegen from 2008. After having worked at Drijber & Partners Advocaten for more than eighteen months, she joined DAAN in October 2019.

Barbara specialises in corporate and insolvency law and is regularly appointed by the court as an insolvency practitioner. In addition, she is always happy to assist entrepreneurs, not only when their company is in trouble, but also with regard to other legal issues they face in their daily practice.

Carine graduated in employment law at the end of 2016 at Radboud University in Nijmegen. She subsequently worked through EIFFEL as a legal advisor in employment law for various legal aid insurers, trade unions and private clients. After more than five years she made the switch to DAAN Advocaten B.V., where she further specializes in employment law.

Christian specializes in corporate and insolvency law. Before Christian joined DAAN, he worked for Poelmann van den Broek Advocaten for more than 8 years. His clients see him as a great sparring partner when it comes to the course of their business, even if things are not going fine (financially). As a lawyer, Christian is involved, accessible and always has a practical solution ready. No lengthy legal epistles, if not necessary.

Christian is also specialized in distress situations: (supervision of) WHOA proceedings and (financial) restructuring. He likes to advise and litigate on contracts and financing constructions.

Christian is regularly appointed by the court as a trustee in bankruptcies. Christian also regularly advises start-ups and scale-ups about the organization of their company and how they should deal with investors.

Coen started to work as a lawyer in Nijmegen in 1989, shortly worked in the legal department of a bank, after which he again went to work for a law firm in Nijmegen in 1999. At that firm, he was a partner for 15 years and acted as managing partner for more than 6 years. Coen joined DAAN on 1 October 2017.

Coen specialises in corporate law and insolvency law. He is regularly appointed by the court to act as an insolvency practitioner . As a lawyer, he greatly enjoys helping his clients in finding solutions in cases of disappointing agreements. He is very experienced in the field of contract law and liability law. He greatly enjoys writing court documents.

Frederique graduated cum laude from law school at Radboud University Nijmegen in August 2024. Since December, she has been working at DAAN Advocaten, where she continues to specialise in corporate law.

Hester has studied law in Groningen and in Kingston, Canada. After her studies, she worked as a lawyer at Loyens & Loeff in Amsterdam for 7 years. She then moved to the east of the Netherlands. She was one of the founders of DAAN.

Within the area of employment law, Hester advises and litigates in cases on reorganisations, (collective) redundancy, employment agreements, employment terms and conditions (including non-compete and non-solicitation clauses), employee participation and mergers and acquisitions. She also regularly assists shareholders and directors in employment law issues.

In addition, Hester also acts as a mediator. As a mediator she assists parties in resolving all kinds of conflicts, for instance between an employer and an employee or between shareholders.

Inge completed a two-month internship at DAAN Advocaten in 2023 and then studied abroad for six months. Currently, Inge is studying at Radboud University, where she is taking the master’s degree in Corporate Law. In addition to her studies, she now works as a paralegal in the corporate law section.

Jasmijn graduated from Radboud University in Nijmegen in 2019 and then started working as a legal assistant at the Gelderland District Court. After two years, Jasmijn made the switch to DAAN Advocaten B.V. There, Jasmijn focuses on employment law, the area of law in which she graduated.

Kristel specialised in insolvency law and the financing & securities practice. Kristel started as a lawyer in Amsterdam in 2007. In her law practice, her focus was on assisting financiers (including major banks and leasing companies) in particularly Special Asset Management / Finance and Restructuring cases. In 2019, Kristel made a foray into the banking sector, where her focus was on advising the bank with regard to sustainable project financing. Since September 2023, Kristel has joined DAAN as a lawyer.

Kristel enjoys advising and litigating on (sustainable) financing structures, as well as assisting DAAN’s insolvency practitioners in legal proceedings. Her clients see her as very committed, constructive, thoughtful and sharp.

Kristel completed both the Grotius Financing & Securities and the Grotius Insolad Insolvency Law cum laude.

Luke has been working in DAAN’s bankruptcy department since November 2024. Prior to this, he spent three years working in administration and law. After completing his HBO Law degree, he started the premaster programme in Dutch law at Radboud University in Nijmegen.

Maida is an enthusiastic and passionate employment lawyer.

You can come to her for anything in the field of employment law, such as reorganisations, (collective) dismissals, settlement agreements, reintegration issues, terms and conditions of employment and more. Maida also advises and litigates in education law cases.

Her curiosity allows Maida to keep abreast of developments and she likes to go in-depth. Maida is driven, committed and open to clients, but always focused on her clients’ interests.

Besides employment law, Maida also deals with privacy in the workplace. In the workplace, privacy is an increasingly important issue for which employers are responsible and which everyone has to deal with every day.

Before joining DAAN, Maida worked as a lawyer from 2015 at a niche firm in Nijmegen that focuses exclusively on employment law.

Her years of knowledge and expertise within this area of law are a valuable addition to DAAN Advocaten B.V. labour law section.

Maike has worked as a secretary at various law firms since 1993. From 1995 – 2000 she worked as a business class flight attendant for KLM. She subsequently went to work as a secretary at Hekkelman Advocaten & Notarissen, before joining DAAN at the beginning of 2015. Maike supports the team at DAAN as a facilities assistant/secretary.

After graduating in Utrecht in 2001, she started to work as a lawyer at Dirkzwager. There, she worked in the Liability, Claims and Insurance Department for 16 years, of which more than 5 years as a partner in the firm. At DAAN’s corporate department, Mascha advises in particular intermediaries, companies (own-risk bearers) and NDPB’s in the area of insurance law, procedural law, and corporate, professional, directors’ and officers’, product and government liabilities.

Maxime graduated from Radboud University in Nijmegen at the end of 2019. She then worked as an employment law specialist at a large legal expenses insurer through EIFFEL. In 2024, she completed the Grotius course in employment law cum laude. After 4.5 years, Maxime made the switch to DAAN Advocaten. There, Maxime further specialises in employment law.

Mirre graduated cum laude from the Radboud University Nijmegen in December 2022. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree, Mirre studied abroad at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she learned about the American judicial system and American laws. Since March 2022 she has been working for DAAN Legal in bankruptcy law. Here she works together with the insolvency practitioners in various bankrupties.

Myrthe graduated from Radboud University Nijmegen in 2024 and then started working as a legal assistant at DAAN Advocaten. Here, she further specialises in corporate and insolvency law.

Raoul has been working as a financial administrative assistant at DAAN since October 2024. He spent three years studying Entrepreneurship & Retail Management, which is where his affinity for finance comes from. Together with an external agency, he is responsible for accounting within DAAN.

Ruben graduated from Radboud University in August 2023. After a short period as a trainee at EIFFEL, he started as a legal assistant at DAAN Advocaten B.V. in February 2024. At DAAN, he mainly focuses on employment law.

Rutger Sark (1965) has worked as a corporate lawyer for over 25 years. He started at Houthoff, Rotterdam. He then went to work at De Kempenaer Advocaten, where he was a partner in the firm from 2000. He joined DAAN in 2012.

Rutger is a much sought-after adviser for entrepreneurs. Strategically and analytically strong. He is a realistic negotiator with an eye for the underlying interests and a strong focus on the end result. Sympathetic, but sharp and decisive. He has a successful track record in supervising acquisition deals and resolving corporate disputes.

Saskia gained years of experience as a secretary at a real estate agency and then at various healthcare institutions. Saskia strengthens DAAN’s team as a secretary.

Sverre graduated in mid-2022 from Radboud University in Nijmegen. During the master’s phase of his studies, he worked at a legal start-up in the field of employment and contract law. After completing his studies, Sverre started working at DAAN Advocaten B.V. At DAAN he focuses on employment law.

Wouter has worked as an attorney at DAAN since its establishment in 2011; he previously worked at Nauta Dutilh in Rotterdam/Breda and at Dirkzwager Advocaten & Notarissen in Arnhem. He is now still associated with DAAN as counsel. Partly because of his many years of experience and extensive network, he is a general source of information on corporate law for many entrepreneurs and knows how to support companies in difficulty with his knowledge of financing issues and, for example, directors’ liability.
